Porter-Starke Services recognizes addiction to alcohol and other drugs as a primary, chronic and progressive disease that can be identified, diagnosed and treated through client and family-centered treatment. The Chemical Dependency & Addictions Program provides the necessary services to begin the recovery process and help individuals lead healthy and productive lifestyles.
Chemical dependency is characterized by a tendency toward relapse and denial of the disease. It is vital to confront denial and motivate an individual's investment in treatment and recovery. Intervention by family members and others close to the individual can lead toward recovery while engaging others in the treatment process.
The principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Alanon, and other 12-step self-help groups are also recognized by Porter-Starke Services as exceptional tools for recovery.
About the Program
Recovery from chemical dependency requires total abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals. The sole exception is that of the dually-diagnosed person whose care and recovery require the benefit of prescribed psychotropic medication with case management services.
We accept men and women, ages 18 and over. Those under 18 considered on an individual basis. Each client's treatment is based upon individualized needs and problems, but can include:

Porter-Starke Services/Porter County Jail Chemical Dependency & Addictions Program
In 2002, Porter-Starke Services partnered with the Porter County Sheriff's Department to provide a cognitive-behavioral treatment program for the male and female inmates at the Porter County Jail. This program assists the incarcerated individuals in overcoming their chemical dependency and addiction while strengthening the community.
The Chemical Dependency and Addiction Program serves as a foundation for recovery that the inmates can carry with them upon release from the jail. For more information on chemical dependency, visit the following site:
