PROFESSIONAL/CLINICAL:
ADL SPECIALIST -- Location: Valparaiso Provides case management
services and in-home oversight. Provides education in
activities of daily living. Works in a team setting to
manage a case load consisting of individuals receiving any of the residential
services, outreach services, or monitoring services necessary to help them
live within the community. Assists clients in personal
financial administration. Provides appropriate
therapeutic interventions and crisis interventions. Plans and organizes group
therapy for those clients whose treatment plan calls for same. Provides documentation of
interventions per department standards. Assists clients in meeting
their treatment goals. Drives and transports clients. Completes electronic
medical record documentation as required. Connects clients to
available community resources and acts as an advocate for clients. Coordinates care with
internal and external providers. Create group materials as
needed. Attends staffings, clinical
supervision, in-services and staff meetings. Bachelor's Degree in related discipline preferred. Experience in the field of psychology, social work or related human services field is required. Valid driver's license and ability to obtain
public passenger chauffeur license is required. BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST (COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES) -- Location: Valparaiso Provides a safe and therapeutic environment for consumer learning and facilitating improvement in functioning level. Enforces program rules and expectations. Provides direct client care by implementing programs and facilitating and monitoring groups. Provides a safe and therapeutic environment to ensure the safety and well being of consumers and staff. Becomes familiar with each consumer's treatment plan relating to placement, interventions, goals and discharge plans. Aids in planning, implementing and evaluating services to the consumers. Prepares and maintains paperwork and other documentation (i.e. charting, daily report sheets, etc.). Plans and/or participates in appropriate recreational activities to promote consumers' well being. Provides transportation for consumers to meet requirements or activities outlined in their overall treatment plans. Maintains confidentiality of all consumers. Completes electronic
medical record documentation as required. Promotes a therapeutically healthy environment for all consumers. Participates in team programs, staffings, meetings and special projects. Develops and revises treatment plans as needed. Enforces rules and regulations for appropriate conduct of consumers and visitors. Transports clients when necessary. Acts as a liaison to community and governmental agencies. Complies with policies and procedures related to the care and well being of all consumers, ensuring respect and dignity in treatment.

A Master's Degree in Social Work is required.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required.
Two or more years' experience providing counseling services in a clinical setting or community mental health center is preferred. THERAPIST, CHILDREN'S SERVICES - Valparaiso, IN Provides individual, group and family therapy. Attends student conferences as scheduled and meets with referral sources. Completes all documentation and writes or dictates progress as required by the agency's policies and procedures. Participates in staff meetings and/or peer consultations to plan and/or review and update client's treatment plan based upon their needs, progress and problems. Completes electronic medical record documentation as required. Assists clients in meeting their treatment goals. Provides education through presentations for local schools, community organizations and referral sources. Connects clients to available community resources and acts as an advocate for clients. Coordinates care with internal and external providers. Attends team meetings and staffings as scheduled. Masters Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related human services field is required. One to three years' experience in adolescent, pre-adolescent, family therapy or a related are is required.
PSYCHIATRIST – Location: Valparaiso Provides initial psychiatric diagnoses and assessments in emergency and non-emergency situations in both acute care and sub-acute care situations. Provides medication management and other treatment interventions to clients and patients directly. Provides coaching, instructions and direction to allied professional and paraprofessional staff and leads clinical team meetings. Consults with general medical professionals regarding the psychiatric condition of their patients. Rotates on-call with other members of the clinical staff. Provides professional services to patients hospitalized at the Inpatient Care Center or other designated inpatient units. Attends and participates in and supports Medical Staff meetings and other committee assignments as may be directed by the Medical Staff Director. Assists in Performance Quality Improvement efforts of the organization. Completes electronic medical record documentation as required. Conducts professional practice that is in compliance with the rules, regulations and bylaws of Porter-Starke Services and the standard of care that exists in Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Assists in peer review and other assignments. Attends to the required continuing education elements for the specialty certification and licensure of physicians and psychiatrists. Maintains and completes clinical record keeping duties as described in either the Medical Staff Bylaws or in compliance with the organization's policies and procedures. A current license to practice medicine in the State of Indiana. A current license in the United States to prescribe medications. Completion of an accredited Training Residency in Psychiatry. Eligibility for and/or certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Positive reference from past professors and/or supervisors. PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIANS (.9 FTE) -- Location: Valparaiso Inpatient Care Center
Provides age appropriate direct patient care to adults 18 and above who are
hospitalized for psychiatric or emotional disorders.
Ensures the safety and well being of these patients, supports and maintains the
therapeutic milieu.
Monitors patient progress and communicates information regarding patient's age
appropriate behavior and progress to other members of the multidisciplinary
treatment team.
Maintains communication with patient, family members and referral sources in
patient's interest.
Facilitates, and co-facilitates didactic groups established and implemented to
meet the age specific needs of the patient population that is being served.
Encourages and facilitates patient's participation in therapeutic activities.
Supervises patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in
treatment.
Maintains a safe, orderly and therapeutic physical environment for patients of
all ages.
Assists with completion of age specific psychosocial assessments and
evaluations.
Communicates with patient post discharge to review compliance with follow up
plans.
Provides input during shift report regarding patients progress to include
behavior, mood, sleep, appetite, and ADLs.
Carries out general nursing assistance appropriate to patient's age as
assigned by charge nurse/manager, communicates and documents 1:1 interaction
of day to day patient activities, communicates to other members of the
multidisciplinary team.
Implements Program Secretary duties/order entry if designated and
cross-trained.
Assists in the training and orientation of new psychiatric technicians.
Education--Graduation from accredited high school or its equivalent,
bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience--1-2 years acute care inpatient psychiatric experience.
REGISTERED NURSE (PRN) -- Location: Valparaiso Inpatient Unit Delivers general and psychiatric nursing age appropriate care to adults 18 and
above that are hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional
disorders. Serves actively and constructively as a member of the multidisciplinary
treatment, supporting the organization and program or unit philosophy of care. Ensures the safety and well being of each patient. Maintains a therapeutic environment. Administers topical, oral, sub Q, IM medications; knows their action, purpose
and side effects. Recognizes and takes appropriate action if adverse drug reactions occurs. Provides medication education that is age specific to patients with
appropriate documentation. Practices good interpersonal skills with physicians, patients, staff, guests
and contact with others, i.e. referral sources. Facilitates age specific didactic groups such as coping skills, medication
education, nursing group, communication skills, self-management, goals, and
wrap-up. Education--Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Experience--1-2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing preferred (+) 1
year medical/surgical nursing preferred. Licensure--Current license for the State of Indiana, CPR certified.
