2011 Valparaiso Turkey Trot

A holiday tradition since 2003, the Valparaiso Turkey Trot brings together families and friends from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan to kick off Thanksgiving Day. This Gold Cup Series Race includes a 10K Run and 5K Walk/Run through the streets of Valparaiso, Indiana. Hosted by the Porter-Starke Services Foundation, event proceeds benefit mental health and wellness programs and resources in Northwest Indiana. With over 1,500 runners and walkers in 2010, the Valparaiso Turkey Trot  became one of the largest races of its kind in Valparaiso. Walkers, runners, sponsors and volunteers - everyone's presence this Thanksgiving morning supports and promotes mental health and wellness in our communities. Join Us!

The 2011 Valparaiso Turkey Trot was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who joined us Thanksgiving morning.

2011 Highlights:

The Porter-Starke Services Foundation began hosting the Valparaiso Turkey Trot in 2010. Since that time the race has grown by 255%!

The Valparaiso Turkey Trot is now the largest running event in Northwest Indiana! Over 2,000 walkers and runners joined this Thanksgiving tradition on November 24, 2011.  1,360 5K and 733 10K participants crossed the finish line (58% female, 42% male).  

Over $35,000 was raised to support mental health programs and services in Porter and Starke Counties. Participating runners and walkers opted to increase their registration fee, raising over $1,100 to support the 2011 Mental Health Amercia of Porter County giftLIFT program.

The success of the event was made possible through the continued support of sponsors, volunteers and community parters.Thank you to everyone who came out to make a difference in the mental health of our community.
