Individualized Interview Process

A prospective resident may telephone 219/531-3500 to schedule an evaluation for admission. Following a formal assessment, program staff will work with you to develop a personalized plan that meets your immediate and long-term needs. Plans may include:

• Intensive Outpatient Chemical Dependency Services
• Relapse Prevention
• Family Therapy
• Mental Health Services
• Referrals To Other Resources

Criteria

To become a resident and maintain residency at the Women's Recovery Home, the resident must:

• Have a substance abuse diagnosis
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Receive substance abuse treatment at Porter-Starke Services
• Attend Alcohol/Narcotics Anonymous meetings
• Be medically stabilized and free of substances
• Pay weekly rent
• Follow house rules and expectations
• Have prescription medications monitored by the house manager

• Women who have been sexually abused are more likely to develop substance abuse
• Women may be at a higher risk for developing alcohol-related problems at lower levels of consumption than men
• 58% of women who are classified as alcoholics are between the ages of 18 and 29
• 70% of all cases among women are drug-related
• Frequency of menstrual disturbances and miscarriages increases with level of drinking
