A person experiencing a mental health emergency, crisis, or episode may have thoughts or behaviors that interfere with their daily living or functioning. They may be in danger of hurting themselves or others. This experience can occur suddenly without warning or build slowly over time. Warning signs may include:
Crisis Care
A person in crisis needs immediate and careful attention by trained mental health professionals. Porter-Starke Services offers a range of Crisis Care services to meet your needs.
Crisis Center
Open 24/7 year-round, our Crisis Center accepts walk-ins and provides assessments for children or adults in the community who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. The Center offers access to crisis care, peer support, and therapy or medical care before potential referral to outpatient, inpatient, or crisis stabilization services. This short-term observation and support (up to 24-hours) can help people avoid unnecessary hospital visits, reduce time with law enforcement, and connect them with the right level of care at the right time.
Inpatient Care Center
The Inpatient Care Center provides acute psychiatric and therapeutic care in a secure hospital setting for adults age 18 and older who are experiencing a mental, emotional, or behavioral episode or crisis. Services include stabilization, treatment, and planning for outpatient care following discharge. Located within the same building as the Crisis Center, the Inpatient Care Center is open 24/7 year-round.
Mobile Crisis Team
The Porter-Starke Services Mobile Crisis Team is a group of specialized mental health professionals that directly respond to people in our community experiencing a mental health emergency. Traveling to meet with people where they are, our team arrives to assess the situation, offer immediate care and support, and connect people with outpatient, inpatient, or crisis stabilization services.
